The Taking Control Conflict Management Seminar

Based on the book This is Out of Control! A Practical Guide to Managing Life’s Conflicts, this seminar explores how our own thinking impacts our ability to manage conflict. Using assertive skills, balanced thinking tools and perception shifting strategies, we explore conflict from different points of view, allowing new insights and improved relationships to grow. Conflict is seen as a natural part of life. We address managing daily conflict and resolving escalated conflict. You can use the skills cultivated in this two-day seminar immediately!

Supervisor Stress

That’s why they get the big bucks!

Ever hear THAT one before? It means the payoff for supervisor stress is the dollars. Stress increases proportionately with a manager’s workload. Sometimes, if you’re a manager, you may not feel the payoff is worth it. Much of this stress is hidden: unseen by your own management and even by your staff. Supervisor stress, if managed poorly, will lead to greatly increased workplace conflict. In this half-day seminar you’ll discover the most common causes of stress for supervisors. You’ll learn perception-changing tools and create an action plan that will lessen the strain.

Appreciating Employees

Employers are often frustrated when thinking about how to show appreciation to the staff. Sometimes bickering and pettiness make a manager want to say “There’s nothing to appreciate!” Learn how to engage your employees to find out their appreciation needs. This half-day seminar will help you understand how different personalities impact the appreciation you show, and how your own personality might affect how others receive your appreciation. Participants will create and receive appreciation ideas.

Creating Positive Relationships in a Union Environment

This two-day training program helps balance thinking, and increases union members’ ability to present conflicts to management – and managers’ ability to receive presented conflicts in the right spirit. Participants will learn to hear the issues that are underlying complaints, and bring everyone’s real needs to the forefront. Balanced thinking skills cultivate the critical skill of separating issues from people, helping us all to leave conflicts at work.

Myers Briggs Type Indicator

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator can be used in many ways. This tool assesses the personality traits that impact our daily living, the careers we choose, the ways that we interact with people, and the things that push our buttons. The tool helps us understand our personality qualities, and leads us to changes and improvements. MBTI seminars are tailored to your needs, and may be used for team building, conflict management, career decisions or personal growth.
